The Inspiration:

That night I didn't sleep... I heard a child crying who must have had a nightmare at dawn, and was probably soon silenced by the affection of a mother or father.

Silence... I kept thinking about the children of Ukraine, how many are crying, without the help of their parents, the love to calm them.

However, after a sleepless night, the world gives us proof that good people exist in unexpected places. In an upside down world, meeting people of light leaves us with a warm heart and full of hope.

The next day my son William went to a friend's birthday and lost a gift he received at the party. He was upset, we went back to the place to see if they had found it, and nothing...

We left, and he was still sad. We take the escalator to go down to the parking lot, when I saw a beautiful girl about 20 years old coming up in the opposite direction. She looked at us and asked: Does he want it? She was holding a huge orange plush dog. She gave it to us in the middle of the moving stairs...

I yelled that she had made a boy happy who had just lost a toy and thanked her so much.

People like that make the world more beautiful and better to live in. They don't expect anything in return, they do it from the heart and are satisfied to enjoy the happiness of others, they feel happy for it.

She shared love with my son... without knowing him. For more orange puppy's girls around the world... Children need them more than any of us.

The inspiration for the name of the book came from my dear friend and illustrator Lillian Lody Branas.
